Wow this week has been a week full of ups and downs but I don't think I have ever been happier. D&C 123:17... Let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power. That is the lesson of the week and what we can all use for the rest of our lives.
But we have definitely seen miracles this week. This week we were walking down the road and Nelson (PS nelson is a guy's name in Honduras... It's a hoot of a time to explain why in the world my mom would name me Nelson...haha) Nelson is a member of 21 years that lives in our rama [branch] that is always working to help us! So we ran into him on Tuesday and he was chatting with his friend Angel. So let me tell you... first impressions don't always fly! I'm not judging... I'm not - but let's just say he just got out of the gym and he likes protein shakes! But I have never been so wrong at first impressions. So we set up an appt when we could meet with him in the house of Nelson BUT missions being missions, it's practically impossible to plan exactly and have all your appts work out.... Ya know. I like to talk. But some people just like to talk A LOT MORE. So we got stuck in an investigator's house pretty far away and by the time we showed up to Nelson's, everyone was leaving and kinda mad so we've been playing the at we had made them wait for nothing. SO we were so sad... but there was nothing we could do about it after it had happened. SO the next day we went to the closest pulperia and bought soda and cookies (those fix everything, right?) and showed up like 30 minutes before the lesson started (I'm learning punctuality:) And we had the best lesson ever. We taught about the restored gospel and our unique message to the world. It was Angel and 4 of his 20ish year old member friends (and Nelson's mom - no worries!) all bearing their testimonies of the restored gospel. The spirit was so strong! Now this is missionary work!! He has a baptism date for 30 de Mayo. He is even attending institute!! BUT like every good thing there is always a way that Satan tries to get in the way of the Joy.... and he couldn't come to church yesterday. We are hoping that all is well but just like the scripture says... "cheerfully do all things" with faith and the utmost assurance and we will see our salvation.
On the sadder funnier side of things Hna Grageda has Chickenguya. So we've been playing the get nurse card here. And taking turns who stays! But this week the rain was super fuerte!!! Every night it's been raining and well.... our house isn't like the best of best for rain... it's kinda like you're swimming in a lake in the night... or in a waterfall :) But on Tuesday Hna Grageda just looks up and says.... AGUA! And the power went out! So Hna Nichols and I are running around the room with her bed... going in circles in the pitch black... in a waterfall... trying to find a spot of dry land! (Its a lot funnier if you could have seen it! But now we're all crammed in the corner and dry most nights :)
Last night we went to go visit Rafael. He's about 60 years old and we always get in deep chats with him but this one was simple. " You just always look so happy. You hermanas just walk down the streets with the biggest smile. I don't understand. I haven't felt that kind of joy of happiness in years."
"Well hermano... we are so happy because we have the truth. We have the knowledge of the restored gospel AND we have the GRAND opportunity to share it. We are so happy Hermano because we know that God loves us and we can feel his radiating love in every moment of our lives. And we KNOW without a doubt that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer... that through him, after this life we can have more joy then is even imaginable."
So fam... Let us cheerfully do ALL THINGS that LIE IN OUR POWER... then may we stand still with the UTMOST ASSURANCE to SEE the Salvation of God and for his arm to be revealed.
I Love you all. And the work of the Lord is rolling to all the ends of the earth :)
Hermana Nelson
